Jamie is the latest outdoor theatre feast from
DC. Jamie draws its inspiration from the legend of the Northumberland
folk figure, Jamie Allan. Gypsy, tinker, tailor, soldier, spy:
rich man, poor man, beggar-man and thief. He was, depending on
how you saw him, an 18th century villain, or a local folk hero
and champion of the people. He became the personal piper to the
Duchess of Northumberland and accompanied her on a number of
State occasions. But he died a pauper, executed in Durham Gaol
for horse thieving, and died before hearing of his pardon.
Jamie is a high energy, highly infectious piece of visual story-telling, fusing
dance, processional puppetry, fantastic live music and more than a smattering
of poetry and pathos. The central character is represented by a 6 metre high
puppet, animated from within, and accompanied by the last of the border deer
hounds!
The touring production is available for booking at outdoor
venues such as village greens, parks, gardens, fairs & fetes
and festivals.
