Over the 20 plus years since its formation Dodgy
Clutch has developed a deeply rooted and instantly recognisable
style of visual story-telling. The company works collaboratively
to produce new work in a popular form of visual theatre that combines
the diverse elements of dance, music, puppetry and performance.
Rhino and An Elephant Called Slowly were shows that
demonstrated this strong visual style and in both cases were based
on an ecological theme. Rhino was performed outdoors on village
greens and city parks throughout the Northeast. An Elephant Called
Slowly was an indoor theatre show that was toured around the northern
region and then brought back for the Edinburgh Festival and taken
to Singapore for their International Children's Theatre Festival.
As a
result of the success of "An Elephant
Called Slowly" combined with 10 years of freedom from Apartheid
in South Africa, Dodgy Clutch director Ozzie Riley decided to
revisit and expand on the themes of the show working in both South
Africa & the U.K. Please click on above link for more information
about "Elephant".
